My name is Ansh, and from the 10th–14th July I had the pleasure of working for Red Pearl Creations on work experience from Sir Christopher Hatton Academy. In this blog post, I wanted to share my experiences.  

As a school student looking for experience and new skills that I can use in the future. I had the privilege of joining a very well run wedding and events company. Working at Red Pearl Creations gave me an appreciation for all the office and field work that goes into making an event a true success. 

Skills I learnt 

During my work experience, I had the opportunity to shadow and learn from seeing other employees in their working environment. They gave me tips and tricks on how to improve my work and guidance on how I can work quickly, yet efficiently.

A few tasks I was given throughout the week included researching and writing a homepage for a business and building a foliage wall for a mandap (indian wedding stage). By being given these extremely different tasks, I’ve not only learnt new things, but also experienced work within different areas of the business. This varied experience was quite important to me.

Team ethic 

From the moment I started working, I felt part of the team. The warehouse had a range of wedding and event decorations such as mandaps and centrepieces, not to mention the large number of floral products. As a member of the team, I was trusted with many responsibilities, from helping and giving input during event planning to getting countless decorations/products ready for an actual event. I also got the chance to attend a venue walk-through meeting. An example of this is when I attended a client meeting at Hinwick Hall. Where I learnt about how Red Pearl Creations work with their clients to create successful events whilst also seeing a business relationship being built in the process. 

Precision

Planning and working an event is a complex process that requires a high attention to detail from everyone working on it. During my time at Red Pearl Creations, I learned the importance of precise planning and effective time management. I was amazed as to how easy the workers made everything look when in reality, the time and effort needed for even one event is huge. I saw firsthand the dedication and effort it takes to put together a successful event, which is why I can say what Red Pearl Creations do is nothing short of miracle work for their clients! 

Summary 

My work experience at Red Pearl Creations was an incredible week that has allowed me to explore a new sector of business and also improved my knowledge on planning events as well as learning about the financial side of business. I will remember the lessons learnt from my time here, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of Red Pearl Creation’s journey.
