Get creative incorporate wedding florals into unexpected places around your wedding venue
When a lot of brides think of florals at weddings, they often picture bouquets, centrepieces, and maybe some floral arrangements on the mandap or down the aisleway. But why stop there? There are so many unexpected places to add florals as part of your wedding.
Here are a few of our favourite ideas to add a touch of spontaneity and elegance to your wedding day:
Ceremony Arch
If you’re having an outdoor wedding, consider adding florals to your ceremony arch. Whether you opt for a minimalist design with a few strategically placed blooms or go all out with a lush, overflowing arrangement, a floral arch can make for a stunning backdrop to your vows.
Wedding Dress
Adding floral appliques or embroidery to your wedding dress can make it feel like a true work of art. Whether you choose to add them to the bodice, skirt, or even the train, floral embellishments can add a unique and romantic touch to your wedding look.
Seating Plans
Who says seating plans have to be boring? Incorporate florals into your seating plans by hanging your table names from a floral installation or by creating a large floral wall with names. You could even have individual flowers with name tags, grouped by table, to add even more of a unique touch.
Chair Decor
Don’t forget about the chairs! You can add a touch of whimsy to your wedding reception by attaching a small bouquet or just a simple small bunch of eucalyptus to the back of each chair. This is a very simple and effective way to add colour and beauty to your chairs at the wedding or at the reception and won’t hugely impact your budget.
Cake
Floral cake designs have been growing in popularity in recent years, and for good reason. Whether you choose to add fresh flowers to a classic white cake or opt for a fully floral design, a floral cake can be a beautiful and unique centrepiece for your reception. Why not, ask your baker how you can incorporate your chosen wedding flowers into your cake design? If you want it to align with your decor, I’m sure your florist / decor company won’t mind sharing the blooms. We often get asked to keep a small selection of flowers aside so it all matches nicely.
Cake Table
So we have talked about the cake, but what about decorating the table? Add a garland of flowers around the cake to create a visually stunning display or create a floral “skirt” to dress the cake table and give it a pop. If you want to keep it simple, you could even add your bouquet itself to the table decor.
Dance Floor
Take your dance floor to the next level by adding a floral installation overhead. Whether you choose to drape greenery or hang a chandelier of blooms, your guests will love dancing the night away under a beautiful floral display.
Restrooms
Although restrooms are not typically considered a canvas for floral decor, they are an unexpected yet delightful spot to showcase a personal floral touch. Place small vases or even shoes with fresh flowers or fragrant blooms on the restroom countertops.
Send-off
As you and your new spouse make your grand exit, would you like to be in a shower of flower petals or confetti? Not only will it make for a beautiful photo opportunity, but it’s a fun way for your guests to get involved with your special day. Have you thought about having a basket full of petal or confetti cones at the exit to your venue for your guests to throw over you as you leave the venue. A confetti bar is unique and a fun way to involve your guests too.
