Carbis Bay – UK Beach Destination

Where can you create a UK beach destination wedding with the same vibe as abroad?

Five months ago, the most beautiful wedding took place in Carbis Bay, St Ives, Cornwall. A beach location, perfect for those brides looking for a destination wedding vibe right here in the UK.

This particular wedding, and the couple are very dear to our hearts. We typically don’t service close family weddings so we can focus on enjoying the event and being a guest. But, what do you do when your sister-in-law comes to you and says “I want you to be my wedding planner – I don’t trust anyone else to bring my dream to life”?

Of course, I couldn’t say no! It’s always been a dream to plan her wedding and I was honoured. It was a huge privilege.

Destination wedding

Both the bride and groom wanted a destination wedding. A beach location, a party vibe, something simple but fun for all the guests. We searched various European locations with pretty beach venues and landed on Portugal, in the Algarve. However, this clearly wasn’t meant to be. Just as contracts were in negotiations, Henesh and I landed the couple with news. We were going to become parents again!

Although this was wonderful news, and we were all very excited, it meant that I wouldn’t be able to fly to the wedding. This obviously put a spanner in the works and the couple decided to change tact and find a UK venue. That night, Henesh and I sat on our laptops. We scoured the internet for venues that would allow us a destination vibe, here in the UK. A handful of beautiful venues caught our eye but we both fell in love with Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate.

Bitesize wedding planning

The next day we got in touch with Carbis Bay to learn more about the venue and ask our extensive list of questions. An absolutely lovely wedding coordinator, Ria Stevens, provided us with lots of information and we then presented this back to the couple.

It was a hit! They loved the venue! Once confirmed, we set out to help with:

  • Itinerary planning – sitting down with the couple to run a draft itinerary. Adapting and finessing the itinerary as the event drew closer
  • Venue layout – working with the bride and groom, as well as the venue planner, to determine how we maximise the venue. Where should each event be held, how will people flow through the venue and how do we optimise space?
  • Local supplier sourcing – identified florists, DJ’s, stationary, candy cart and many more

Overall, the wedding was a huge hit with all the guests. The day ran perfectly, the weather held out and we got wonderful feedback from the bride and groom.

The night before the wedding, we hosted a Welcome drinks party in a typical Cornish Pub. Watch this space – I’ll be sharing a blog post on this very soon.

We wish you tons of happiness, love and fun in your married life Rupa and Neal!

All the best,
